I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography & Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I direct the Geospatial Computing & Society Lab (GeoCompSoc Lab). I am also a Faculty Affiliate at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Center for Social & Behavioral Science.

My research examines the intersection of data, computation, and human values. I am interested in how emerging geospatial technologies can be designed and used in ethical, socially responsible, and beneficial ways. More broadly, my work spans spatial data science, location privacy, and critical geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI).

I am currently investigating the social and ethical implications of GeoAI, including issues of socio-spatial bias, model collapse, and loss of diversity. I am also committed to helping students engage critically with these technologies by integrating AI literacy and ethical reasoning into geospatial education.
